Rails : I ain't a developer, is it worth my time?
So i’ve been talking in previous posts about the possibility of trying out Ruby on Rails for some of the web app ideas I have. Well, tonight was the 1st, well 2nd, step towards that. (The 1st being I purchased Agile Web Development with Rails.) I went over to a Refresh Dallas meetup where Adam Keys gave a speech about Rails and showed some uses of it. The presentation was good and I was...

APIs should be required by law.
API is an acronym for ‘Application Programming Interface’ and the wikipedia definition is as follows: An application programming interface (API) is the interface that a computer system, library or application provides in order to allow requests for service to be made of it by other computer programs, and/or to allow data to be exchanged between them. Test driving Ruby on Rails
So for a while now I’ve been thinking about trying to do some development work on my own just because I do a fair bit with this website and have gotten MUCH more comfortable with [tag]html[/tag] ,[tag]css[/tag] and even a little [tag]php[/tag] and [tag]javascript[/tag]. SXSW - Almost done
Well I’m sitting here, Tuesday, waiting on the keynote presentation and reflecting on how i thought the festival went. So when I came and saw 95% of people here are my age it’s cool to see what...

SXSW 2006 - Day 1
So I’ve offically been up since 4:45 this morning where i got my sh*t together and started making the trek to Austin. I grabbed some kick ass Whataburger taquitos and I was good to go. Mapquest said it would take 3:45 to Austin, did it in 3:05. :) I made it to Austin with plenty of time to register and get into the 1st class which was on XML. The class, for me, kinda blew because it was...

Friday night, and decisions, decisions.
I’m trying to decide, sitting here @ 8:11pm if I should head to the SXSW festival tonight OR wait until first thing in the morning (5:30am?!?!). I originally thought tonight b/c I’m not known to be a morning person but with all the shiznit I still have to do I think I’ve decided to get up at butt-crack AM and make the trek to the geek promise land. I don’t think...

Austin, here I come.
Well, on Monday I signed up to go to the SXSW (South by Southwest) festival down in Austin. Now, generally this festival is most well known as a music festival but I won’t be attending any of that (it’s the week after i leave, of course) but I will be attending the ‘interactive’ part that discusses emerging trends and technologies. Well, here, let’s let SXSW explain...
