It’s official | I’m in 9rules.

9rulesI haven’t mentioned anything on my blog about my blog being selected by 9rules to join their premiere network of blogs. I wanted to make sure I agreed with their member policy before making any annoucements. There were 700 submissions to get in and they picked 111 to join them. Three to four weeks ago I submitted my sites (this one and fatboydiaries.com) in hopes to get in and frankly, I didn’t think it would be this one. I’m totally stoked to get in and hope to join the 9rules soccer squad soon.

Considering I just started this site a month ago, part of me thinks a little strategy and a little luck played into me getting noticed. Here’s the rundown of the last month:

- Started bradgarland.net exactly a month ago today. Seriously, one month.

- 5 days later I posted an article on my blog about allofmp3.com going down and then submitted it to digg.com and it got ‘dugg’ to the front page (equated to about 18K uniques, and it started increasing my traffic. (BTW, mediatemple didn’t bat an eye.)

- The digg effect included getting posted to WikiPedia which help circulate my site longer than it should’ve gone.

- Posted an article on 37signals and got into a debate with DHH himself.

- Posted an article on ‘Geek Celeb’s’ including Scrivs and then he posted about it on oreoceo.com.

Since then things have died down a bit but going from 5 uniques per day initially to about 100 uniques now, in 1 month, is not too shabby in my book.

Happy to be a part of the team 9rules! My blog now wears the badge proud. (see sidebar)
