No TV for a month Update | 10 days in.
Looks like I’m getting a few readers talking about my little goal and I appreciate the comments. (and the referrals!) It’s been 10 days to date since I’ve started my little experiment and everything has been really good so far. Fairly easy actually. (Who would’ve thought!) The only thing I’d call a ‘slip-up’ was last night where I sat down on the couch of my in-laws and watched about a 30 second blurp on this whole Lebanon/Israel fiasco on CNN. But that was current news, not 24 or Lost, right?! I then caught myself and ran into my mother-in-law’s office and surfed instead. Phew, that was close!
I’ve found, thus far, that I my newly found time is being utilized in other ways than ‘learning Rails’ like I originally wanted. But it’s even more rewarding: Jenny and I sit and talk more, spend more time with the little one, work more (ehh), and have been more consistent with working out. All good things, besides maybe work.
I’ve also creating an extended version of achieving these goals of discipline. Tell me what you guys think:
- So no TV for 30 days this month
- Next month, flip it. No computers (except for work) when I get home or on the weekends.
- Month after that, neither TV nor computers for a month.
I mentioned it to Jenny and my friends and have gotten mixed responses. Jenny thought it would be good but my boys think it would be lame going back to TV all over again. I said, “But I would guess I would watch TV less now, no?”
Sound off, what do you think?
