No TV for a month UPDATE | The Ultimate Test
So let’s recap, I decided on July 9th that I was going to stop watching TV for a month. I have done it so far with very good success, limiting to DVD’s on the weekends with my wife (that’s the closest thing to a date with a 7 week old!) and I also watched one TV show last night with my wife since we ran out of DVD’s to watch…other than that, ship shape!
When I am drawn to watch TV during the week I can fall back on other things such as a book (reading ‘The Long Tail’ right now), or blogging, or working out. All much more beneficials than endless re-runs of ‘Seinfeld’. Though I do like them so…
Well now I have my ultimate test, the week long stay at the hotel! I am on the road this week for work, which normally means endless hours of TV watching since there is nothing else to do. I end up watching on Discovery how Lance Armstrong is a physical specimen and his heart only beat like 10 times an hour and that’s how he wins bicycle races and hooks up and quickly ditches attractive older chicks like Sheryl Crow. Then proceed that by Monster Garage and how they can turn a Schwinn (I’m on a bike kick, ok?!) into a Jet-powered Ford Fairlane that not only does the quarter in 5 seconds but also can make pancakes while doing it. But I disgress…
I’m freaking out a bit really. I did bring a couple of books to read so I have that to fall back on, I can work out some true, but there still seems to be alot of time to screw up. And I’m running out of things to say!
Alright, screw me, just wish me luck and stayed tuned. By the end of this week I might be the guy in the fetus position in the corner of the rooming gently rocking back and forth but at least you’ll know I didn’t watch TV! Man I need help.
Later!
P.S. Just read this thing back and man I sound nuts…..awesome.
