Wordpress and Mint Suck in the same way
So let me start off by saying that I love Wordpress and Mint so much that it annoys me that they don’t work in the way I’d prefer. I should also state that I might be talking a bit out of my knowledge set here but the bottom line is that I’m talking as a user and it’s a pain for me to experience this issue often.
The problem was noticed recently due to me upgrading to the latest version of Wordpress and Mint went 2.0.
My problem with these app’s are the same. The issue I have is with keeping up with latest plugins or Peppers, as Mint likes to say, is a task. You never seem to be running the latest/greatest and then when you upgrade to the latest version of the Wordpress or Mint your plugins or peppers may or may not work. This seem counterintuitive to me. Is it due to it being an web app that’s the problem? I wouldn’t think it would be.
If it were possible, and it might be more possible for Wordpress than Mint since it’s a one man show there but, I’d like to see something like how the updating of Firefox add-ons happen. After I upgrade to the next version, it checks my add-ons, upgrades add-ons where possible and then disables the ones that aren’t compatible with this version anymore.
I understand that part of the issue is due to it being a open API and not having all the plugin/peppers underneath the same website but that’s how Firefox has done it and it worked out for them real well.
Anyway, I was just looking to upgrade to the latest peppers in Mint and it got me thinking. Anyone has any idea on why this is the case?
